Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas broadcasted that it launched a vast redesign for current banknotes and coins to further improve security features and enhance durability last 2009.The members of the committee include Bangko Sentral Deputy Governor Diwa Guinigundo and Dr. Ambeth Ocampo Chairman of the National Historical Institute. The new banknote design has highlighted famous Filipinos and iconic natural wonders while Philippine national symbols will be shown on coins. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas started releasing the initial batch of new banknotes last December 2010 while new coins will be launched beginning 2012. Current banknotes will remain legal tender for at least three years.
The new design for Philippine banknotes were released last  December 16, 2010.
Below are the description of all bank notes (bills) that are in or will be new in circulation. The sizes of all bank notes or bills should be assumed to be 160 mm by 66 mm in size unless purposely stated otherwise.
