March is Fire Month of the Philippines
With Fire Prevention Month just two days away, Malabon Vice
Mayor Antolin “Lenlen” Oreta III has alerted the city’s firefighting
units so that they will not be caught flat-footed by any fire that may
broke out in the city this coming summer months.
At the same time, Oreta urged volunteer firefighting groups in Malabon to assist their government counterparts to their fullest ability as the city’s fire department only has six operational fire trucks at its disposal. “Please help us in anyway you can, be it through the information side or response side,” he said.
Oreta also urged his constituents to take extra care in the handling of flammable objects in order to avoid fire incidents in their neighborhood this March and the rest of the summer season.
He noted that fire incidents tend to increase during the hot and humid summer season, thus it is only proper for Malabon residents to be more vigilant so that the belongings would not end up as piles of ash.
In 2011, Malabon reported 20 fire incidents in its area of responsibility of which five were considered major ones.
